Unframing the Landscape; Space Art & Ecology

Writer, art critic, and curator John K. Grande will treat Art Station to a comprehensive talk covering contemporary art practices related to landscape, ecological issues, and technology. More specifically, he will deal with the divergence between the natural and the manufactured in the language of arts production of our era.The talk will include several recent projects by artists John Grande has helped with.
Renowned in the arts and ecology field worldwide, John Grande's Earth Art project at Canada's Royal Botanical Gardens (2006-08), Eco-Art (2011) at Pori, Finland which featured Andy Goldsworthy, Dennis Oppenheim, Christo Jeanne-Claude, Brandon Ballengee and others,were followed by a show at Van Dusen Botanical Gardens in Vancouver with Chris Booth, Nils-Udo, and others. John Grande has played a major role in integrating nature and ecology into contemporary art conceptions in Canada and around the world.
Grande is the author of several books, including, Art, nature et Societe (Ecosociete 1996), Intertwining: Landscape, Technology, Issues, Artists (1998), Art Nature Dialogues (SUNY Press, NY 2005) and Dialogues in Diversity (Pari, Italy, 2008).Recent books include Bob Verschueen; Natura Humana (2010), Homage to Jean-Paul Riopelle (Prospect/aspereau 2011) and Black Peat ( with Alfio Bonanno, Ireland 2011)
